Zachary Alan Bourg Scholarship in Physics Research

Selection Criteria:
1.) To initially obtain the award, the student must be a freshman, enrolled full-time, and majoring in physics at Southeastern.
2.) First-time freshmen applicants and freshman applicants with fewer than the equivalent of 12 semester credit hours of college/university-level course work completed:
a.) Minimum ACT composite score of 26.
b.) Minimum high school GPA of 3.5.
c.) Successful completion of rigorous math and science
classes while in high school.
All other freshmen applicants:
a.) Minimum college/university GPA of 3.0.
b.) Successful completion of rigorous math and science
classes at the college/university-level.
3.) Preference will be given to eligible applicants with demonstrated involvement in science or math outside of the classroom, with greater weight given to demonstrated involvement in physics.

1.) First-time freshman applicants and freshman

b.) Official high school transcripts.
All other full-time freshmen applicants:
a.) Official college/university transcripts.
2.) An essay that addresses the student’s:
a.) Reasons for majoring in Physics.
b.) Interests within Physics.
c.) Prior involvement in physics, science in general,
or math outside of the classroom.
3.) Two (2) letters of recommendation.
